News of Christchurch Museums & Galleries



This list has come through from Museums Aotearoa in the last few on how the galleries around the city have fared:
Air Force Museum, all staff okay
Akaroa Museum, unaffected this time
Arts Centre of Christchurch, news photos show significant damage
Canterbury Museum, Staff all okay, loose items moved around and the sprinklers were activated, some bits fallen off building
CoCA, no information yet
Christchurch Art Gallery, no structural damage, headquarters for Civil Defence
Lyttelton Museum, has been closed since September with more damage on Boxing Day, no information, fear it is now even worse
Okains Bay Museum, unaffected this time
Our City O-Tautahi, closed since September, now completely ruined
The Physics Room, all staff okay
Timeball Station (NZHPT), severely damaged (image above) both staff members there at the time got out safely

Zahi Hawass Shows The Damage
