In a story that has gone around the world - A smidgen of wedding cake was sold on Trade Me for $380 yesterday. It was kept by a Sergeant Technician at Wigram Airbase who 'won' a bite in a draw back in 1981.
An official five-tier wedding cake was made for the Royal wedding in 1981 but there were also twenty-two other cakes distributed among royal staff, which may have included the RNZAF.
In 2008 the lovely piece shown here sold for £1000 in England. Click here to see the Trade Me auction.
